Campaigns
Informing the public about child abuse is the critical first step in building communities where all children are protected. Safe Horizon launched its first national child abuse awareness campaign in 2006 in response to the tragic death of 7-year-old Nixzmary Brown from abuse and neglect. This tragedy dominated headlines for months, sparking outrage and grief in New York City and across the country, and underscored our responsibility to take action to prevent future tragedies.
Public education and awareness is central to Safe Horizon's mission, and Hope Shining will extend the reach of our life-saving campaigns into communities across the nation. In the fall of 2008, Safe Horizon will launch a new national campaign with our proud National Sponsor Capital One to compel the public to learn more about child abuse and to empower them to take action.
